Intel and QuTech developed a semiconductor qubit

Recently, Intel and QuTech created an industrial-strength qubit that serves as a starting point for large-scale production. The qubit is a device that implements the smallest unit of information in quantum computers and comes in several types: superconductors, ion traps, neutral atoms, or ions implanted in macromolecules, among other variants.

According to IBM, one of the companies that has contributed most to the development of quantum computers, over the years it has worked to increase the number of qubits, with the goal of developing their power and implementing a robust error correction system.

According to what is known so far, a semiconductor qubit has been manufactured. It benefits from the developments in integrated circuit production technology that have taken place over the decades. QuTech researcher Anne-Marije Zwerver estimates the achieved yield is 98%. For now, they want to improve the quality of the multi-qubit spin control system.
