A Celestial Spectacular: Perseids and Aurora Borealis Light Up the August Sky
In a stunning natural spectacle, people around the world witnessed a rare celestial phenomenon: the Perseid meteor shower, accompanied by the Northern Lights. The most recognizable meteor shower of the year reached its peak on the night of August 12. This astronomical event, which occurs every summer between July and August, attracts thousands of people from around the world, who come to enjoy a magical evening, including photographers skilled in capturing the majesty of our universe.

Although the simultaneous appearance of auroras was unexpected, meteorologists had anticipated some electromagnetic activity over the weekend, leading NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center to issue a geomagnetic storm watch for August 9–11. However, space weather is unpredictable, and auroras only occur under specific conditions.

However, everything aligned over the weekend. While some lucky ones managed to see the Perseid meteors, others enjoyed the dancing Northern Lights, and some were even fortunate enough to witness both phenomena simultaneously.

The most popular meteor shower of the year will continue until approximately August 24, although with a lower number of meteors per hour than at its peak.
