Telepathy; the first brain chip is implanted in a human

Neuralink , the company owned by billionaire Elon Musk, has implemented the first brain chip in a human. The procedure involves “implanting a small, hermetically sealed chip directly into the patient's brain” (Page 12, 2024). The device runs on a battery, which recharges wirelessly. This would create an interface with an external computer, allowing it to send and receive signals.
This has raised several concerns about physical risks, medical implications, and ethical issues. According to a Reuters report in 2022, Neuralink was reported to have been involved in trials that resulted in the deaths of around 1,500 animals, including sheep, monkeys, and pigs. Despite this, in 2023, the U.S. Department of Agriculture stated that it had not found any violations of animal research laws.
Elon Musk made several statements where he announced that the chip "allows you to control your phone or computer, and through them almost any device, just by thinking" (Page 12, 2024). He also stated that "The initial users will be those who have lost the use of their limbs" (Page 12, 2024).
