Astronomers have captured a massive collision of steroids.
In the Beta Pictoris star system, located 63 light-years away, astronomers have captured a snapshot of a massive steroid collision. These observations occurred 63 light-years from Earth and offer a unique glimpse into the primordial processes of planet formation.  According to astronomer Christine Chen, the collision features the formation of rocky planets and other bodies.

Christina Chen and her team recorded significant changes in the energy signals emitted by the dust grains compared to observations recorded by the Spitzer Space Telescope in 2005 and 2006. The astrologer announced that they have witnessed the consequences of a cataclysmic event that does not commonly occur among large asteroids, which is considered a change in the understanding of that star system.

Beta Pictoris has been a point of interest for astronomers due to its proximity and the random nature of collisions, space erosion, and other planet-forming factors that will determine the system's fate. Furthermore, the collision occurred at a key age.
